The Atlas Fellowship is a $10K scholarship and free 11-day program in the San Francisco Bay Area for intellectually curious high school students from anywhere in the world. Our goal is to build students’ ability to understand how the world works and change it, and give them space to explore their ideas with other exceptional students. The program covers AI, epistemology, futures studies, career planning, and more. Applications are open until May 14th.
The Atlas Fellowship is a $10K scholarship and free 11-day program held in the San Francisco Bay Area for intellectually curious high school students from anywhere in the world. Our goal is to build students’ ability to understand how the world works and change it, and give them space to explore their ideas with other exceptional students. Our program covers AI, epistemology, futures studies, and career planning. We are funded by Open Philanthropy, a large philanthropic organization.
Late applications are due May 14.

Example topics for this year’s program include:
- Fermi estimates and forecasting
- Lessons from China’s history about ending poverty
- Introduction to machine learning
- Cognitive biases and how to counteract them
- The pitfalls of the scientific method
We will also have a special focus on the current state of artificial intelligence research.
We pay for all expenses including flights, housing, and food. We also grant fellows a $10K scholarship for education and professional development regardless of if they attend the 11-day program or not.
We take the health and safety of our participants very seriously. We screen our instructors carefully and train them extensively in best practices for safeguarding minors. We also have qualified counselors with relevant experience on staff at all times.
